Religious Education

1st Eucharist Preparation:
Students in the 2nd Grade will begin their formal preparation for the Sacrament of Holy Communion on Sunday, January 18th. An Introduction to the preparation process for parents and other interested adults will be held on Sunday, January 25th at 9:00 AM in the Auditorium. At least one parent for each student should plan to attend. Any student not currently enrolled in St. Leonard Religious Education who would like to participate in the sacramental prep program should contact Kathy Henry in the Faith Community Office. First Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Leonard’s on Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Child Protection Workshop:
The Archdiocesan Decree on Child Protection requires that all regular volunteers who work with children under the age of 18 must participate in the Child Protection Workshop. The Workshop provides information on recognizing child abuse, providing a safe environment for children, and understanding the provisions of the Archdiocesan policy on child protection. It is required for all new volunteers, and recommended for all parents with children participating in Community programs. Kathy Henry will facilitate this workshop at St. Leonard on Sunday, January 18th following Mass in the 3rd Grade classroom. Please contact Kathy or the Community Office if you plan to attend.

NCEA ACRE
Students in the 5th Grade will be participating in the NCEA Assessment of Catechesis/Religious Education (ACRE) on Sunday, January 25th during their regular class time. Parents, please make sure your children are well rested and arrive a few minutes early next week. Fifth graders will be dismissed early from Opening Prayer in order to allow more time for the Assessment. The NCEA ACRE Program is required by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and provides important information we can use in assessing our catechetical efforts.
